UNILAG: Oluwakemisola Graduates Against All Odds
By Segun Adeyanju
Oluwakemisola Emmanuel, a University of Lagos (UNILAG), student who once appealed for public support to fund her education, has successfully graduated with a B.Sc. in Mass Communication.
Sharing her inspiring journey on Instagram, Oluwakemisola posted photos documenting her time as a 100-level and 200-level student, including the period when financial difficulties forced her to seek assistance.
Her plea touched the hearts of well-wishers, whose support enabled her to complete her studies. Celebrating her milestone, she expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to her academic success.
“Officially a B.Sc. Mass Communication graduate from the University of Lagos! What started in December 2017 has finally come to a beautiful end today.
“I’m deeply grateful to God for guiding me through this journey and to everyone who supported me financially along the way,” she wrote.
Meanwhile, UNILAG’s Mass Communication Department made history by producing 18 all-female first-class graduates in the 2023/2024 academic session, a milestone unveiled at the university’s 55th convocation ceremony.
The three-day event will see 16,590 students awarded degrees and diplomas, including 9,865 first-degree recipients and 6,659 postgraduate graduates.
Additionally, 66 students will graduate from the UNILAG Business School (ULBS).
