Steve Harvey Death Rumor Debunked as AI-Generated Fake News
Popular comedian and TV host Steve Harvey has become the latest victim of an internet death hoax sparked by a bogus AI-generated article. The false claim, titled “Steve Harvey Passed Away Today: Remembering The Legacy Of A Comedy Legend,” was shared by the website “Trend Cast News” and later picked up by Newsbreak, a platform known for hosting AI-generated fiction.
The hoax article, which curiously included a future publishing date of December 19, 2024, quickly went viral, prompting reactions from fans and widespread searches for confirmation of Harvey’s supposed death.
Social Media Activity Proves Harvey Is Alive
Contrary to the rumours, Steve Harvey is very much alive. On Wednesday morning, he shared recent photos of himself and his wife, Marjorie, on Facebook, captioning the post with a heartfelt message:
“Throwing it back to Christmas moments filled with love, laughter and reflection. Grateful for my rock, my queen Marjorie. Every year, every memory, every blessing.”
He followed the post with a question for fans, asking them to complete the statement:
“Life has taught me…”
Thousands of fans responded with wisdom and encouragement, proving that Harvey remains active and engaged with his audience.
Why Fake Death Rumors Spread
Fake celebrity death rumours, like this one, are often driven by the desire for viral attention. In today’s digital age, sensational stories—regardless of their accuracy—are shared widely before being verified.
Platforms like Newsbreak, which hosted the bogus article, have been previously criticized for spreading misleading AI-generated stories.
Calls for Accountability
The false report has sparked outrage among Harvey’s fans, with some urging him to take legal action against the creators of the hoax. One commenter on Newsbreak wrote:
“You basically wished death on that man… I hope he catches wind of this article and sues whoever wrote it.”
Not the First Rumor
This isn’t the first time a death hoax has targeted Harvey. In October 2024, a false rumour claiming he had died in a car crash was debunked by Snopes. Similar rumours have plagued him recently, but the entertainer has often responded with humour, diffusing misinformation gracefully.
