Samsung Unveils AI-Enabled Smart Fridge That Creates Recipes Based on Your Diet
Samsung is set to revolutionize kitchens with its upcoming 2024 Bespoke 4-Door Flex Refrigerator with AI Family Hub Plus, featuring advanced AI capabilities. The smart fridge includes an upgraded internal camera that identifies individual food items and a connected app to suggest recipes based on available ingredients. Samsung plans to officially debut this innovative appliance at CES 2024.
Key Features of the AI Smart Fridge
The fridge comes with a 32-inch Family Hub touchscreen that supports Galaxy phone mirroring. Additionally, users can enjoy apps like TikTok and YouTube directly on the screen. Enhancements to the Samsung Food app allow it to connect to your Samsung Health profile and customize recipes based on dietary preferences, including gluten-free, vegan, pescatarian, and more.
The fridge also introduces the “Image to Recipe” feature, using upgraded Vision AI to identify meals or ingredients from photos and generate personalized recipes. However, Vision AI currently recognizes up to 33 food items, so users may need to manually input additional information, such as expiration dates. Notifications for expiring items will appear on the Family Hub screen.
Evolution of Samsung’s Smart Fridges
Samsung has been developing smart refrigerators since 2016. The first models featured cameras to view the fridge’s contents remotely but were criticized for slow apps and limited functionality. Over time, Samsung’s technology has significantly advanced, making the 2024 model a centerpiece of its smart kitchen ecosystem.
This year’s focus on AI functionality sets it apart from previous models, which prioritized Internet of Things (IoT) integrations. Samsung envisions the fridge as an integral part of its broader AI-powered kitchen, including other devices like its AI-enabled oven.
Expanding the Samsung Kitchen Ecosystem
Samsung’s innovations extend beyond the fridge. The 2024 Anyplace Induction Cooktop features a slide-in design for seamless integration into kitchen cabinetry. Equipped with a seven-inch LCD screen, the cooktop allows users to access recipes via the Samsung Food app while cooking.
These advancements reflect Samsung’s commitment to creating smarter, more efficient kitchens for modern households. With AI at the core, the company is redefining how technology interacts with everyday living spaces.
