Prof. Aisha Ali-Gombe, US-based associate Professor And Award Winning Computer Engineer
Prof. Ali-Gombe currently directs the LSU Cybersecurity Clinic (LCC) and founded the System Security (SySec) Lab. She also holds a joint faculty position at LSU’s Center for Computation and Technology. Her academic and professional focus is cybersecurity and digital forensics, particularly mobile and IoT platforms.
Her research addresses pressing cybersecurity challenges, such as malware detection, threat identification, cybercrime investigations, privacy policy enforcement, access control, and intrusion detection systems. She aims to solve real-world cybersecurity problems and advance theoretical knowledge and practical applications.
She has contributed significantly to cybersecurity, having authored and co-authored over 30 publications. Her work has been featured in prestigious cybersecurity journals and conferences, including NDSS, RAID, DFRWS, ACM’s ACSAC, WiSec, CODASPY, the Journal of Computer and Security (COSE), and Digital Investigations. She has also presented her research at the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS).
Background and Education
Prof. Ali-Gombe completed her Ph.D. in Engineering and Applied Science with a focus on Computer Science and a specialisation in Information Assurance from the University of New Orleans (UNO) in 2017. Before her Ph.D., she earned her M.S. degree in Computer Science from the same institution in 2012. Beyond her computer science expertise, she also pursued business studies, receiving an MBA from Bayero University Kano.
Her academic journey began with a B.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Abuja, Nigeria, in 2005. During her undergraduate studies, she was awarded the prestigious TotalFinaElf undergraduate merit scholarship in 2002, highlighting her academic excellence early on.
Her scholarly pursuits were further bolstered by the TotalFinaElf Undergraduate Merit Scholarship she received in 2001.
