Oman Unveils Plans for $1.3 Billion Waterfront Development
The internationally known Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) are slated to build a massive $1.3 billion waterfront complex in Muscat, the capital of Oman.
Al Khuwair Muscat Downtown and Waterfront, a 3.3 million square metre development, will have a ministerial campus, a marina, a cultural area, and multiple canal walks in addition to residential buildings.
When construction is finished, the region is anticipated to house over 60,000 people. Work is scheduled to begin by the end of this year.
Architect Paolo Zilli, associate director of ZHA, revealed that he worked on the model for about a year before submitting it to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning in Oman.
