Former US President Donald Trump is set to return to the White House after beating US Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.

Trump was declared winner by the Associated Press after he won over the 270 Electoral College votes benchmark.

Currently, Trump has won 277 of the Electoral College votes while Kamala Harris has won 224.

He beat Kamala in the key battleground states of North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

Projections from Fox News say Trump will also win the popular vote for the first time.

In his victory speech, Trump said, “America has given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate.”

He also vowed to Americans that “I will not let you down. America’s future will be bigger.”

Trump, who lost his reelection bid in 2020, described his win as a “massive victory for democracy and for freedom.”

Kamala Harris is yet to congratulate Trump or make a concession speech but is expected to speak later today to supporters.

World leaders have sent in congratulatory messages for Trump as he is set to be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States.

The Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu called his victory a “historic return to the White House,” which “offers a new beginning for America and a powerful recommitment to the great alliance between Israel and America.”

Trump, 78, is the 45th and 7th President of the United States and will be officially sworn into office on January 20, 2025.
