Nigerian innovators Timothy Dake and Uduma Glory, the minds behind the first Hausa GPT model, have launched Kofounda, a voice-powered website creation platform designed to help anyone build professional websites using simple voice commands.

The platform, developed under Zeustek Global and ICT Solutions, recently won $250,000 as the only African startup recognised in Microsoft’s Generative AI Challenge. This milestone highlights Kofounda’s potential to transform Nigeria’s digital landscape, where millions of small businesses still lack online presence.

“Most Nigerian business owners want websites but find traditional builders too complex or expensive,” said Timothy Dake, CEO and technical lead at Zeustek Global. “Kofounda eliminates these barriers by letting users simply speak their vision into reality.”

Powered by generative AI, Kofounda understands voice commands in multiple Nigerian languages. It automatically creates responsive websites complete with text, visuals, and e-commerce features. With a simple instruction like, “Create a restaurant website with menu and online ordering,” users can have a functional website within minutes.

Co-founder Uduma Glory, who leads design and frontend development, emphasised the platform’s accessibility. “We built Kofounda for African entrepreneurs who may not be tech-savvy but have brilliant ideas. Voice is universal—everyone can speak their dreams,” she said.

Zeustek Global gained international attention for developing Jummai, the first Hausa GPT model created for Global Integrated Education Volunteers (GIEVA). That project showcased the team’s skill in building AI solutions tailored to African users.

“Our work on Jummai showed us how to make AI truly inclusive,” Dake explained. “Kofounda brings that same approach to web development, turning complex tech into simple conversations.”

The Microsoft grant affirms the startup’s vision of democratising digital presence for African entrepreneurs. With this support, Zeustek Global aims to expand Kofounda’s reach across Nigeria and beyond, empowering businesses to grow online with nothing more than their voice.
