The body of the late Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja has arrived at the Nigerian Air Force wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

The body was received by soldiers of the Guards Brigade, who are set to pay their last respects to Lagbaja. It arrived at exactly 9 am.

According to a statement issued by the Acting COAS, Lieutenant General OO Oluyode on Wednesday on behalf of the Nigerian Army, the late COAS will be buried on Friday at the National Cemetery in Abuja.

A service of songs for the late COAS who died on November 5, will be held at the Army headquarters’ garrison parade ground, Mogadishu cantonment, in Abuja on Thursday.

This will be followed by a funeral service at the National Christian Centre, Abuja on Friday, after which the late COAS, Lagbaja will be interred.

Lagbaja, who was appointed by the President on June 19, 2023, with other Service Chiefs, died at the age of 56.
