Federal Government Declares Two-Day Public Holiday for Eid-el-Fitr
The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, as public holidays in celebration of Eid-el-Fitr. The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji–Ojo, through a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.
Minister Tunji-Ojo congratulated all Muslim faithful on completing the holy month of Ramadan in his message to the nation. He urged Muslims to continue embracing the virtues of self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace, emphasizing that these qualities are essential for building a harmonious society.
The minister also called on Nigerians to use this festive period to pray for the nation’s peace, stability, and prosperity. He encouraged citizens to celebrate safely and responsibly, while also extending kindness to the less privileged, in line with the true spirit of Ramadan and Eid-el-Fitr.
