Superstar singer Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, is the highest charting Nigerian artist in the history of the US Billboard Hot 100.
The “Bank On It” crooner displaced fellow singer Tems to go top of the chart after his feature in Cold Play’s “We Pray” alongside Little Simz, Elyanna, and Tini Stoessel.
Burna Boy became the number one Nigerian artist in Billboard history after “We Pray” debuted at No. 87 and increased the Grammy-award-winning singer’s entries on the Billboard to six.
Tems, who previously held the record, has five entries on the US Billboard Hot 100, while Wizkid, who holds the record for becoming the first Nigerian act to debut on the Billboard, has four entries.
Rema, whose “Calm Down” remix featuring Selena Gomez smashed several records on the Billboard, has one entry alongside other Nigerian acts such as Davido, Fireboy, CKay, and Lojay.
