Chowdeck Hits 1 Million Monthly Orders, Expands Rapidly Across Nigeria and Ghana
Chowdeck, the YC-backed food delivery startup, has surpassed one million orders in a single month, marking a major milestone in its growth across Nigeria and Ghana.
According to CEO Femi Aluko, the company’s daily order volume recently climbed from 30,000 to over 40,000, reflecting rising demand for fast and reliable delivery services across major Nigerian cities.
The growth comes despite ongoing industry challenges such as logistics inefficiencies, rider management, and customer support issues, hurdles that have forced rivals like Jumia Food and Bolt Food to exit the market.
Aluko noted that the company had faced operational pressure in recent weeks but emphasised that the team was “listening, learning, and fixing things quickly,” adding that the milestone shows “what is possible when people believe in what we’re building.”
Launched in 2021, Chowdeck has grown from 300 users in its first month to over one million monthly users across Lagos, Ibadan, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and other Nigerian cities. The company entered Ghana in early 2025, where it reached 1,000 daily orders within three months, three times faster than its early Nigerian growth rate.
In June 2025, Chowdeck acquired Mira, a point-of-sale startup founded by former Flutterwave and Paystack employees, to integrate payment processing, inventory management, and merchant financing tools. Two months later, it raised $9 million in Series A funding led by Novastar Ventures to accelerate its quick commerce expansion in both Nigeria and Ghana.
