Activists Vandalise King Charles’ First Official Portrait
An animal rights organization’s activists have defaced the first official portrait of King Charles, which is presently on exhibit in a gallery in London.
On Tuesday, June 11, the advocacy organisation Animal Rising shared a video on its social media platforms that saw two protestors covering the monarch’s portrait with signs using a paint roller.
The monarch’s image is currently on exhibit at the Philip Mould Gallery in central London, and visitors are welcome to view it until June 21.
Upon its unveiling earlier this year, the painting—the first official picture of King Charles as monarch—raised some questions. Mixed responses were elicited when artist Jonathan Yeo painted the king against a background of blood red brushstrokes.
