Jay-Z Accused of Assaulting 13-Year-Old in Civil Lawsuit Involving Diddy

Musician and entrepreneur Jay-Z has been accused in a civil lawsuit of raping a 13-year-old girl alongside hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs in 2000, according to court documents filed on Monday. The allegations are part of an updated complaint in an ongoing case against Combs. Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, denies the accusations.
The lawsuit alleges the incident occurred during an after-party following the MTV Video Music Awards in September 2000. The complaint claims that Carter and Combs took turns assaulting the minor while others, including another unnamed celebrity, allegedly stood by without intervening.
“Carter has been with Combs during many such instances described herein. Both perpetrators must face justice,” the filing reads.
Initially identified in the lawsuit as “Celebrity A,” Jay-Z was named directly in the updated complaint. The plaintiff, whose identity has not been disclosed, accuses Carter of filing a “frivolous” counterclaim in response to the allegations.
Jay-Z Denies Allegations
Jay-Z responded to the accusations with a forceful statement, describing the claims as an extortion attempt by attorney Tony Buzbee, who represents the plaintiff.
“My lawyer received a blackmail attempt, called a demand letter, from a ‘lawyer’ named Tony Buzbee. He had calculated that the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle. No, sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are,” read a statement published by Roc Nation, Jay-Z’s record label, on X (formerly Twitter).
“These allegations are so heinous that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one! Whoever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away. Would you not agree? These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.”
Jay-Z, now 55, is a billionaire and a prominent figure in the music industry. He has transitioned from rapper to producer and entrepreneur. He is married to global superstar Beyoncé.
Lawyer’s Response and Broader Case
Buzbee, the attorney leading the lawsuit, defended the filing in a statement to AFP, saying, “The pleading speaks for itself. This is a very serious matter that will be prosecuted in court.”
Combs, who is already facing separate charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, has not yet publicly responded to the allegations involving Jay-Z.
This case is expected to draw significant public and legal scrutiny as it unfolds in court.
