When Chidimma Adetshina withdrew from the Miss Universe South Africa beauty contest over questions surrounding her identity and xenophobic attacks, some critics were unimpressed by the decision of the organisers of the competition in Nigeria to hand her a free invitation.

After she was crowned Miss Universe Nigeria, there were questions surrounding her victory, as some analysts said it could be an attempt to spite South Africa or that she won the contest due to her visibility and the traction it will bring to the platform.

On Saturday, November 16, 2024, Chidimma Adetshina silenced all her critics and answered questions surrounding her rise to stardom by emerging as the first runner-up at the Miss Universe contest.

Chidimma, who lost the bigger prize to Miss Denmark, proved that she was born for modelling with her win, which means she is now the Miss Universe Africa and Oceania.

Nobody described Chidimma’s journey better than her as she said, “I came, I saw, and I shook the universe.”

“Returning home as Miss Universe First Runner-Up and Miss Universe Africa & Oceania.

“I’m filled with immense gratitude for Nigeria and Africa for believing in me and helping me reclaim my dreams.

“This is what it truly means for dreams to come true.”

She returned to a heroic welcome in Enugu State and has been excited over her newfound fame.

Chidimma Adetshina has been likened to former Miss World and Nigerian beauty queen Agbani Darego.

Hopefully, she might set her sights on the Miss World contest and bring it home.
