Is Tyla The New Queen Of Afrobeats?
Since South African singer Tyla released the hit song “Water,” her story has changed. From beating the likes of legendary singer Davido to win the Best African Music Performance Award at the 2024 Grammys to releasing top-charting songs, she has established a global reputation for her brand.
While other high-profile artists such as Tiwa Savage and Yemi Alade have been touted as the queens of Afrobeats, Tyla might just be wearing the crown, as other female artists in the African entertainment industry have not been able to hit her achievements despite the fact that she is still 22 and has not even been in the industry for up to half a decade.

Tyla proved her dominance again at the 2024 edition of the MTV Europe Music Awards by clinching the Best Afrobeats Award.
She won the competitive award against the likes of Burna Boy, Rema, Tems, Ayra Starr, and Asake.
Tyla went on to make history by becoming the first African act to win three awards in one night in the history of the EMAs, also winning the Best African Act and Best R&B awards.
“I want to thank my team, my family, and the Tigers for voting for me,” she said.
“Thank you to Afrobeats.
“Afrobeats has opened so many doors for African music. So thank you so much to Afrobeats.”
Tyla’s successes are coming really early, and it will be hardly surprising if she wins more Grammys and EMAs in the future to continue her dominance.
