Ayra Starr Overtakes Yemi Alade as Most-Viewed Nigerian Female Artist on YouTube
Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has achieved a new milestone as the most-viewed Nigerian female artist on YouTube, surpassing the previous record-holder, Yemi Alade.
Starr, who hails from Cotonou, has now garnered 811 million views on YouTube, moving past Alade’s 805 million views. Her breakout single “Rush” has become her most-viewed video on the platform, amassing over 395 million views alone.
Ayra Starr rose to fame in 2021 with her debut EP Away, which quickly went viral and launched her into the spotlight. Songs like “Bloody Samaritan” and “Rush” further established her as a powerful new voice in the industry.
Her music style blends Afropop, R&B, and soul, showcasing a unique voice and empowering lyrics that distinguish her from her peers. With her ability to mix Nigerian traditional sounds with modern influences, Ayra Starr’s music resonates widely locally and internationally.
Despite Ayra Starr’s new title, Yemi Alade still holds the record for the most YouTube subscribers among Nigerian female artists, with 2.41 million subscribers, while Ayra Starr follows closely with 2.26 million.
