Spanish footballer Aitana Bonmati is the undisputed queen of women’s football after winning the 2024 Ballon d’Or.

Bonmati won the award for the second time in a row in a glamorous ceremony held in Paris on Monday night, October 28, 2024.

The 26-year-old was instrumental in Spain’s UEFA Nations League triumph and also won the Liga F and the UEFA Women’s Champions League with FC Barcelona Feminin.

The win means she has equaled the number of Ballon d’Ors won by her club and international teammate Alexia Puetellas, who has also won the award, which is in its sixth edition twice.

“And I wouldn’t want to forget my colleagues who have let me experience some wonderful moments.

“And finally, my family that surrounds me supports me. We’ve been through hard times together, but I’d like to thank you all.

“Thank you very much. It’s been a pleasure to be here again. I thank my teammates and my club, who give me everything and make me a better football player every year. Thank you.”

Continuing, the FIFA Women’s World Cup winner said, “I think that there is nothing like the first time, but it’s true that I’m so thankful for being back here; what we do isn’t easy.”

“I’m so grateful for being back here.

“In the end, I’m part of a group effort, and I’m surrounded by wonderful players and my national team, and I am thankful because without them I wouldn’t be the footballer I am.”
