Nigerian singer Davido has teamed up with Beninese multiple Grammy-winning singer Angelique Kidjo for a new single titled “Joy.”

Kidjo, who is known to be vocal on the global stage about the uniqueness of African music, expressed delight about doing the song, stating that it reflects her personality.

She also heaped praise on Davido for collaborating with her and hopes the song can unite people for a moment of joy.

“This song, Joy, is who I am! Coming out this Friday, thank you, Davido, for bringing your light! No one could have done it better,” Kidjo said.

“We hope this song can bring the world together for a moment of joy.”

Davido also expressed excitement at the project and described it as an honour to work with the legendary singer.

“It was an honour working with the legend Angelique Kidjo on Joy,” Davido said.

While fans are thrilled with the collaboration, some pundits have suggested that it is finally Davido’s connection to win a Grammy because of her reputation on the global stage after he failed to land a Grammy on his first attempt.

Kidjo has collaborated with other Nigerian artists, such as Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy, Yemi Alade, and a few others.
