Without a doubt, Funke Akindele is a household name in the African entertainment industry and is currently leading the pace in the business of filmmaking.

She is responsible for making hit and highest grossing movies in Nollywood such as Omo Ghetto: The Saga, Battle on Buka Street, and most recently, A Tribe Called Judah.

These films have raked in millions of naira and several reports have said the thespian has turned billionaire.

Reacting to the reports, Funke confirmed that her last film, A Tribe Called Judah, earned over a billion naira but she is yet to attain billionaire status.

The former Lagos State deputy gubernatorial candidate said that she works extremely hard on improving her acting prowess.

“I’m not a billionaire! My movie A Tribe Called Judah grossed over a billion naira. But I didn’t take the billion home o!!! I be confirmed hustler,” Funke Akindele clarified.

It is hardly surprising that Nigerians believe that she is a billionaire because the successes of her films have not been rivaled by other filmmakers in the continent.

Nollywood is the biggest film industry in Africa and can only be compared to the American and Indian film industries on a global scale.

It is understandable if fans interpret the successes of her films to mean billions in her bank account.

Despite the fact that the actor has clarified her wealth status, it will always be an issue of debate in the entertainment industry as long as she keeps making great films.
