Super Eagles of Nigeria striker Victor Boniface is off to a good start in the 2024/25 football season after helping Bayern Leverkusen clinch the German DFB Pokal.

Boniface opened the scoring in Leverkusen’s win over Stuttgart in the final on Saturday, August 17, 2024.

The game ended 2-2 in normal time, but Xabi Alonso’s men won the title on penalties as fans sang praises for Boniface, who did not finish the previous season on a personal high.

Boniface got off to a great start in the 2023/24 season, but his season took another turn after suffering an injury that meant he needed surgery and withdrew from Nigeria’s party to the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

After a few months on the sidelines, Boniface did not return in the best shape and lost his place in Alonso’s starting eleven.

However, the Nigerian seems to have won the trust of his manager again and got the nod to start in the final on Saturday.

Bayern Leverkusen will be aiming to defend their first Bundesliga crown this season and will be banking on Boniface to end up as the club’s highest goal scorer like he did last season, but with better statistics this time around.

Victor Boniface’s ability lies in his physicality and technical prowess on the pitch, and hopefully he will not be plagued by injuries this season.

He is definitely one to watch out for this season for both Leverkusen and the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
