Fans of English singer Adele were shocked when she revealed during an interview with German media franchise ZDF that she will be taking a break from music after the end of her Weekends With Adele residency in Las Vegas on November 23, 2024.

“I don’t have any plans for new music at all,” the Hello singer said.

Many wondered why she decided to leave the spotlight at a time she is at the climax, but her decision can be blamed on “burnout” from creative ideas.

“I want a big break after this, and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while,” she said during the interview, an indication that her creative prowess in music is at a low.

In a December 2023 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Adele said, “I have nothing to say yet,” when asked about making new music.

“I haven’t even thought about it. I have to wait for a feeling. If I get antsy, that’s when I know I have to go to the studio, and I am the opposite of antsy right now.”

During the same interview, she talked about trading other creative lines such as acting.

“The guy whose movie it would be, he’s not mentally ready to write the script for it. I bug him every now and then about it, but he’s just not there yet,” Adele said.

“But that’s the only role I ever want. Because I think I’d nail it. I think I’d do really, really, really good at it.”

Adele also told fans during one of her Weekends show in January that she does not “think I’m gonna write an album for quite some time.” 

Creative burnout is a big thing and creatives need to be aware of this and save energy rather than make less quality outputs.
