According to a report by the Nigerian Gas Flare Tracker, between 2020 and 2024, gas worth $1.9 billion was flared in Nigeria. According to the research, nine states of the federation burned 595.1 million standard cubic feet of gas during the time under examination.
Rivers, Delta, Imo, Edo, Bayelsa, Anambra, Abia, and Lagos were the states in question. Despite protests from industries that produce energy about gas scarcity, gas flaring is nevertheless common in Nigeria.
In the meantime, a recent analysis from PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC) stated that the proportion of gas flared in Nigeria has been declining since 2002 and was 10% in 2018.
